Oil Bath Air Filter (Ölbadluftfilter) with Air Intake Cap – WH-Beige Version for KdF Type 82e
This is a high-quality reproduction of the special oil bath air filter used exclusively on KdF Beetle Type 82e vehicles from approximately spring 1943 until the end of Type 82e production in 1944.
This version is painted in the correct sand-colored WH-Beige finish and fitted with the original-style service instruction water-slide decal. It is supplied complete and ready for installation.
The filter is equipped with the additional air intake cap mounted on the intake tube. All KdF Type 82e vehicles were equipped with this special air filter cap arrangement.
It is difficult to determine exactly when the dark grey Panzer Grau finish was replaced by the sand-colored WH-Beige version on these filters, but it is generally accepted that this change occurred around spring 1943.
The filter includes the internal filtering element and is made identical to the original version, with all filter components pressed from sheet metal, not spun.
The internal filtering element is manufactured exactly like the original. For correct operation, before first use the filtering element should be lightly oiled. The recommended method is to immerse the element in clean engine oil and then blow out or drain the excess oil, so that the internal wire mesh remains only lightly coated. This light oil film allows dust and dirt particles to adhere properly to the filter element.
The oil bath housing must also be filled with engine oil up to the marked level, as proper oil level is essential for correct filter operation.
