Description
Crankshaft Extension Bolt – for Early Crankshaft Pulley Installation
This crankshaft extension bolt is a special fastener with external and internal threads, designed to extend a standard Volkswagen crankshaft. It allows the installation of the early-style crankshaft pulley used on the earliest 985 cm³ engines.
This component is required when fitting the early crankshaft pulley together with the crank-handle dog nut P0242 or the earlier version P0117 on engines originally equipped with a standard-length crankshaft. The extension bolt enables the correct assembly of the early starting-handle setup by effectively lengthening the crankshaft.
Inside the internal M14×1.5 thread, a locking bolt is installed. This bolt secures the crankshaft extension in place and prevents it from loosening during engine operation.
It is used on early KdF Beetle engines as well as Type 82 Kübelwagen engines where the early pulley and crank-dog configuration is required.
