Air Filter Element (Luftfiltereinsatz) – Oil Bath Air Filter
This air filter element is a reproduction of the original insert used inside the oil bath air filters fitted to KdF vehicles, including Volkswagen Type 82 Kübelwagen, Type 166 Schwimmwagen, Type 92 and Type 82e.
Manufactured according to the original design and specifications, the internal construction faithfully reproduces the original filter element. Inside, the filter mesh is formed as a continuous compressed sleeve rather than loose individual wires. This construction prevents individual wires from coming free and potentially entering the carburetor and, subsequently, the engine cylinders.
Before installation, the filter element must be soaked in clean engine oil and the excess oil allowed to drain or be blown out. The internal mesh should remain lightly coated with oil, allowing fine dust and dirt particles to adhere to the filter element during operation.
We recommend replacing an old filter element if it is heavily contaminated, affected by corrosion, releasing dirt or rust particles, or if individual wires are beginning to come loose.
